Direct and Indirect Treatment of Organic Dye (Acid Blue 25) Solutions by Using Cold Atmospheric Plasma Jet

In this work, the direct and indirect removal of Acid Blue 25 (AB25) from water by using cold atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) has been demonstrated. APPJ with a pin electrode type configuration operating argon as working gas was used source for treatments. configuration, formed in contact surrounding air over liquid surface. The driven high voltage radio frequency (RF) power supply. system characterized measurement electrical characteristics employing optical emission spectroscopy (OES). characterization gave information about voltages currents, i.e., points discharge, well deposition to sample. OES recorded spectra confirmed several existing reactive species phase system. During treatment, AB25-containing solution directly exposed APPJ. treatment performed modifying various experimental parameters, such initial AB25 concentrations, times, input powers. treated activated (PAW). PAW plasma-induced long-lived species, nitrate (NO 3 ? ), nitrite 2 ) hydrogen peroxide (H O have quantified colorimetric techniques. Besides, blank experiments conducted main constituents PAW, where individually NO , H mixture these three species. As expected, almost complete achieved. measurements also provided an insight into kinetics degradation AB25. removed significant amount within 17 days. experiments, containing solutions created favourable influence on liquid.
